first week as a graduate
so…my first week as a graduate. to say the least, started off extremely boring, but definitely picked itself up. i started the week off going on chat roulette with my room mate. it’s such a waste of a time, but it so frickin’ addicting. honestly, about 80% of everyone on there is a bunch of pervs but you do get some regular people to talk to. but yeah, first couple days of the...
what is going to happen to me now?
life has been good. i won’t go into detail now but in the near future i have so many options : may be going to grad school as a grad assistant in the fall, and have the opportunity for a couple jobs, which i will not name (although large places) :) unless i decide to go for it. so how excited am i to be done with school? so much you couldn’t imagine. i mean, sure i have a couple...

last blog for web class. not the last of me.
well let’s see here. school is coming to a close and i must say i am glad that the projects are finally dwindling down. i’m not sure exactly where my priorities are because i have my iphone app finished to when it’s not due until thursday. i have a packaging project due tomorrow and i still need to create my process boards and photograph by product. although, he did say he was...
randomness.
so i had something i was going to write about and now i forget. been happening a lot today. but let’s see. i’m sure i can think of something to talk about. maybe my original idea will pop back in my head while i type this. nope, it hasn’t. ya know though, i do know something to talk about. this damn senior show. this show has taken up so much of my time it is ridiculous. i know...
team usa is going down...that's where they're...
what better to talk about than the most recent web assignment. i was so excited to make a music social networking site and am still stoked about it. it’s not exactly at it’s best right and in no way would i be totally proud to put it on the web and be proud to call it mine, but i really like the direction it is going. if it weren’t for the senior portfolio, i know i could have...
dunkin' donuts
so i feel like a tool. the dunkin’ donuts was an april fools joke…oh well. i liked it.

senior portfolio. dun dun dunnnn
the time came. time to drop off the good ol’ portfolio. i’ll be honest, i wasn’t nervous at all putting this thing together. i was pretty confident. but let me tell you. as soon as i was getting off the freeway, going towards the school, i could feel my heart beating faster and faster. i wasn’t to the point of fainting, but i’ll admit, i was a bit nervous. none of us...
paul sahre
alright, so i really had to think about this one before i wrote it. before going in to this lecture, i wasn’t too impressed with paul sahre. i did think he had some really cool projects and some really nice outcomes, but i wasn’t that into it. i wasn’t following some of the type solutions, illustrations and whatnot. even while he was talking, i was letting my earlier opinons get...
spring break.
wow, i just wrote an entire book on here for a blog and it just erased. what the hell!? so, call it lazy but this will be a lot shorter than what i originally had written here. basically, i wanted to give you a brief idea what i’ve been up to this spring break. it’s basically all been about the senior portfolio. i’m just about done with the whole thing which is a definite plus. i...
pondering about type
i’ve been nostalgic today. well, not the whole day, but just recently. it really doesn’t matter though now does it. i’m sitting here waiting for some files to burn onto a disc and started thinking about typography. i’m thinking about how type has evolved in such a short period of time. now, i say this but really it has been awhile. i go to the store and see these devices...
new york subway
so it’s kinda funny. i was just thinking about vignelli the other day and today got an email about triboro design making a new “new york subway” map. i’m not 100% sure how i feel about it. i am a huge fan of vignelli as well as his subway system. it’s easy to use because of its color coated system. triboro made it a one color system, flourescent red. i’m not...
matthew carter
o. next week in youngstown, matthew carter is to speak at the university. i can not tell you how excite i am for this. for those of you who don’t know who matthew carter is, he is a highly reputable typographer, who created many fonts, by hand. click the image if you really want to know more; or, go hear him speak next thursday. even before i was a design student, i had an interest in type....
vancouver olympics
i feel a blog on vancouver is quite appropriate for the week. the games are going great, but what i want to discuss is this olympics artwork. canada wanted the artwork to be different from any of the other games. they didn’t want there to be cliche graphics such as mountains or maple leafs. the graphics speak nothing of canada’s history except for the logo, which is rather indiginous....
radiation and cell phones
Radiation. Cell phones. Interesting. So my fiance calls me talking about how her cell phone has one of the highest radiation levels out there which could be sold in the United States. I was a bit confused. I really had no idea what she was talking about it. To me, a phone is a phone. So, I asked what she was talking about. She went on to tell me how different cell phones have different levels of...
pepsi and the superbowl
With the Super Bowl coming this weekend, I figured this blog was a good one. Pepsi, for the first time in 23 year is not going to be advertising this year in the Super Bowl. Why? Do they not have the money? Oh, they’ve got the money. They’ve decided to go a different approach. Pepsi is giving away money this year. $20 million worth of money. Pepsi decided to go the social media route....
dyson hand dryer
So, I’m not a Dyson sponsor or anything like that (one may think since this is my second consecutive dyson blog), but I saw this in a mall and thought it was the coolest thing ever. Well, maybe not the coolest thing ever, but pretty sweet. Just like the last blog, this is amazing design. Kudos to Mr. Dyson! First, let me tell you my encounter. So, I’m washing my hands in a restroom and...
dyson bladeless fan
I’ve always been interested in mid-century modernism. I guess you can say if I had the opportunity, I would love to fly into a time machine and go back to that era. Well, while looking at a modernist website, I somehow came across Dyson’s bladeless fan. What?! A bladeless fan? I really don’t know how long this has been out. Maybe I’m out of the loop and this has been out...
heat maps
i’m working on an identity for a client at work. i’ve already finished their logo and was working on a letterhead system for them. during my early phases i came up with some pretty nice ideas but they still needed some tweaking. my boss looked over my designs and started talking about heat maps. he mentioned to me that even though heat maps are mainly used for web use, they can be...
