paul sahre

alright, so i really had to think about this one before i wrote it. before going in to this lecture, i wasn’t too impressed with paul sahre. i did think he had some really cool projects and some really nice outcomes, but i wasn’t that into it. i wasn’t following some of the type solutions, illustrations and whatnot. even while he was talking, i was letting my earlier opinons get in the way. so, i slept on it. i thought about it. i really think paul sahre has some really nice things. i didn’t see a structure in a lot of the stuff he did, but truthfully, there really was. before i saw it more as an art piece than a design piece. but really, why can’t design be art? seriously. think about it. although his stuff does has an order to it and it does follow a grid, he does some have some “out there” pieces. people mocked artists throughout the centuries and look what they redefined. all i’m saying is, i respect the guy. although i’m not 100% on his boat, looking at his stuff, hearing him speak and really thinking about what i heard, i found it very beneficial and will definitely work more on expirementing than playing it safe. it was a good time. saw some old kent class mates, heard a good talk and came up with some nice sketches for my packaging project as well! paul sahre, thanks for coming. you were a really nice guy and hope to run into you again sometime. i shall end with a quote taken directly from paul from last nights show. “move to new york. fuck cleveland.”
